How to get 1000 Twitter followers monthly in 40 seconds a day

How to grow your Twitter audience on autopilot

You hear it quite often that running your social media on autopilot is bad. And I cannot agree more, it is. But many small businesses do not have resources (budget, time, people) to spare on content marketing all the time. If this sounds familiar then this is the article for you.

A couple of months ago our Twitter account had around 800 followers. I was busy working on new functionality for the product and could not spare much time on content creation and promotion online. I also did not have budget to hire somebody to help me out. So I started using following three tools and less than a minute a day after the initial setup to keep it going and growing. Today we have over 3k followers.

So let's get to it.

Create your Twitter Message List

Bludged.com Twitter Message List

This is the first and the most time consuming step. But you do it once and revisit once a month or so.

You need to create a list of tweets that will be posted to your feed in a loop. Which means your feed will be always alive and plus you will be constantly promoting your product.

I used Bludged.com to create my Twitter Message List. There are several alternatives out there, but for starters this is our own product and another good reason to use it - it is free and you can hook up as many accounts as you want. Here is an article with step by step guide on how to set up looping tweets.

You can play with your publishing frequency and times to configure the best schedule. In my case I tweet once an hour. In order to get your Twitter Message List perform as expected I would suggest to have at least twice more tweets in the list than number of times you tweet daily. For example, if you plan on posting once an hour it'll make 24 tweets a day. In this case add at least 50 tweets to your Twitter Message List.

Engage with new relevant accounts

Twiends application

Another very important thing is to keep engaging with other people and ideally with those who are relevant to your business.

I came across this awesome tool - Twiends.com. It is easy to set up, you only have to log in with your Twitter account, specify your interests and you are ready. Then you'll be getting suggestions to engage with certain accounts and once you start following you will notice that your followers count starts raising.

Keep your account clean

Crowdfireapp

It does not look very good when you follow 5000 people and only 15 follow you back. So it is a good idea to clean up your account from time to time in order to unfollow those who either did not follow you back or stopped following.

There is a great tool for that - Crowdfireapp. They offer lots of cool features, such as recent followers, non followers, recent unfollowers, auto replies and much more. I only use "recent unfollowers" and "non followers" in order to clean up my account.

Conclusions

So follow these three simple steps:

  1. Set up your Twitter Message List (one hour once a month
  2. Engage with relative accounts (daily, 20 seconds)
  3. Clean up you account (daily, 20 seconds)

Every day when I get to the office I launch browser, open Twiends and Crowdfireapp, click through to engage with new people and unfollow those who abandoned me and that is it!

It is not the best content marketing strategy, but it is a better than nothing. And imagine what you can achieve if you spend some time working on your content when you can get that far with only using 40 seconds of your time daily!

4 reasons to start your own online business

Cruel reality

Yes, we all dream about doing what we love and getting paid for it. In reality this is not always that easy. You read those motivational quotes telling you that you should quit your job and follow your dreams, if you don't like where you are, move, you are not a tree, etc.

But it is hard. And it gets even harder when you have family and kids, mortgage and monthly expenses you cannot really ignore.

But beside all these concerns there is cruel reality - the majority of online businesses fail. Even brightest ideas fail quite often. And most likely you will fail as well!

Reason #1 - Failure

You will fail! Yes, this is the best reason why you should give it a try. Failure does not have to be a bad thing. None of us was born with knowledge and strength to walk, we all learned it, built strength. We tried and we fell, got up and tried again. And now we walk.

Yes, it is said to realize that you idea failed, that time and money spent and there is no result. Your girlfriend or wife might blame you for wasting time, you friends might say "we told you so". But think about the experience you've just gained! What you have learned! You stepped out of your comfort zone, you gave it a try, most likely you tried different hats on. And yes, it did no work out, but now you know what did not work, and what to do differently next time.

And yes, don't give up! You are already in entrepreneurship world, you are one of those brave ones. So analyze your results, get yourself together and get back up!

Reason #2 - Experience

Being in charge of your own business gives you a unique opportunity to try yourself in different roles. You have to come up with the idea, do a marketing research, build a business plan around it, build your MVP, build awareness about your product. So you work as a CEO, marketeer, software developer, designer, accountant and much more. If you build a team around your idea you also try yourself as a recruiter and a salesman (trying to sell the idea so people would actually join the team).

For me as a software engineer starting my own business was a great opportunity to learn what it takes to be a product owner. When you fully responsible for all aspects of product development, decide which features to be included in next release, how to market them, impact on software architecture. It is a great experience and requires a lot of learning and sleepless nights. But totally worth it! Even if you don't succeed, your experience would be very valuable and could get your a higher position with your next employment.

Reason #3 - Freedom

Freedom!

If you business finally became profitable then you are a lucky man! With online business you can work from any part of the world (as long as you have internet connection), you can work at any time of the day or night. So no more 9 to 5 job, no need to wear a suit and shave if you don't feel like it. You are free!

If only it was that easy, right? Having those advantages does not mean you can do nothing and just chill on the beach sipping caipirinha's. Your own business is a lot of work and most likely you'll be working way more than 40 hours a week and working over the weekends. But hey, you are working for yourself and you do what you love! And if you are already here - you are my hero!

Reason #4 - Respect

Respect!

If you succeeded and your online business became your primary income, it let you quit your job and you have the same income or even more this is awesome! But even if you are only trying to get through, fighting with all the challenges along the way and not making anything yet I bet your friends, those who did not dare to give it a go, respect you for actually trying!

You will not achieve anything if you don't try! But it is scary. And the majority of us know that and only keep whining about how cool it would be to do something, or be someone. Taking on a fight and losing is more respectful than chickening out and doing nothing.

Conclusions

If you have an idea, do not be afraid and give it a go. But do your homework first. Do your research, find out all potentials issues, try to estimate how long it would take to build it, how much would it cost, do you have all necessary skills or would you require to find somebody to assist you. Do you marketing research to make sure that your product is actually required (do not build something nobody needs). And don't be afraid of altering you initial idea. While your project is evolving you might need to tweak the initial idea or even change it completely. Changes are good!

How to set up automated Facebook posting with Bludged.com

You have signed up for Bludged.com – that’s great! We are thrilled to hear that.

What next? One of the coolest features of Bludged.com is the ability to generate Facebook posts based on your website’s content. This way you can create a schedule and focus on your primary business leaving your content marketing running on autopilot. Well, up to a certain limit🙂

But we’ll talk about it later. Let’s start the setup!

How to configure automated feed on Bludged.com

  1. Now first thing you need to set up is your feed source – link your website, and teach Bludged how to parse it. To do that, navigate to “Feed Sources” menu and then click “Add New Feed Source” button.

Finalizing your automated feed setup

Next thing to do is to create a scheduler. Navigate to “Schedulers” menu and click “Add New Scheduler” button.

All done! Now in the background Bludged.com will start crawling your website, generate posts and store them in the system. You would have to approve those before they get posted. But don’t worry, you can approve all by a single button click🙂 Navigate to “Posts”, click “Automated Posts” button to find all your automatically generated posts. If you like what you see just click “Approve All” button and this is it.

Before we wrap up, there is one more thing I wanted to talk about.

Is it good enough to run on autopilot?

The answer would be “NO”. If you only want to fill up your Facebook feed with automatically generated posts listing your products, this is a bad idea. But mixing your manually crafted posts with those product promotions would be a much better approach. So ideally create an automated feed, post with it 3-5 times a week and schedule some manual posts as well. This way your feed looks live and user friendly, your followers don’t feel stuffed with dry product posts.

Do you have any questions/comments? Please leave a comment below, we would love to hear back from you. You can also reach us via Twitter.

How to automate and loop your tweets

Why automate Twitter

The very first thing I wanted to cover in this post is why would you want to automate your Twitter account? The answer is simple, with automation you can work more efficiently and effectively.

What do we mean by automation? Generally when people talk about social media marketing automation they talk about publishing schedule and generating some interaction dynamically. It could be engagement with users or generating content.

In this post we will discuss how to automate you Twitter posting activities - creating Twitter schedule and loop your tweets.

Why looping tweets

Twitter differs from other social networks in a way that content users receive has very short life time. Don't take me wrong, your tweets are still there. But chances that people would see, read and engage with them are very slim the older they get. This is one of the main reasons why you should tweet your content multiple times. This way you increase your chances of engagement.

There are lots of resources out there with suggestions for the best time to tweet. But in reality, unless your business targets a geographically specific region, it is not that simple. In the world of online business your customers are everywhere. And having your Twitter scheduler set for a particular time zone might not be the best choice. My advice is try and adjust. Tweet regularly and check your engagement. After some time you would be able to figure out what are the best times for you to tweet.

How to automate and loop your tweets

Alright, so let's get started! There are several tools out there that can help you with Twitter marketing automation. I would definitely recommend checking out this awesome article by Social Media Examiner "How to Automate Your Tweets: 3 Useful Twitter Apps".

They cover Tweriod, Buffer, and IFTTT. But in this article I am going to talk about Bludged.com. How to use it and why and when would it be the best choice for the job.

Without any further delays let me introduce you to Bludged.com! With this tool you can link as many Twitter and Facebook accounts as you want. And you can schedule as many posts and tweets as you want. Another cool feature of Bludged.com and the one we are going to talk about in more details is Twitter Message Lists.

Bludged.com

When you schedule a tweet in Bludged.com you have an option to add it to one or more lists. Each list is configured with it's own targeting Twitter account and scheduler. So you can send the same tweet to multiple lists and post to different accounts at different times.

You can also configure your list to be active up to a certain date. Let's say you are running a Christmas marketing campaign promoting some products for a limited time only. Just set your list to be active till Christmas and it will automatically switch off after. This way you can be sure that there will be no tweets send after Christmas since your special offer is over then. Pretty handy eh?

Step #1 - Create scheduler

Create scheduler in Bludged.com

First of all create an account at Bludged.com or log in if you are a registered user.

  1. Once logged in, navigate to Schedulers menu (on the left side).
  2. Click "Add New Scheduler" button. Specify scheduler name, time zone, select days you want this scheduler to be active on and time slots. Same time slots will be applied to every selected day of the week.
  3. Click "Save Changes" button. Yes it is that simple.

Now, what if you want to post at different times during weekdays and weekend? You would need to create two schedulers, one for weekdays, another one for weekends, specify those times you want to post at. Problem solved 🙂

Step #2 - Link Twitter account and create Twitter Message List

Link Twitter account to Bludged.com

  1. To link your Twitter account navigate to "Linked Feeds" menu item.
  2. Click "Link Twitter Feed" button. If you are already logged into your Twitter account it would be picked up automatically. If not, then you would have to log in first before you can authorize Bludged.com application to post on your behalf.

If you need to link multiple Twitter accounts, after first one is linked, log out from your Twitter account (not Bludged.com system), and perform previous two steps again.

Step #3 - Add tweets to the list

Add tweets to Bludged.com Twitter message list

To add tweets to your list there are two options:

  1. Create a stand alone tweet and also add it to a list(s)
  2. Or create a tweet within the list (this way this tweet will be used only within this list and cannot be added to other lists)

To create a stand alone tweet:

  1. Navigate to Posts menu
  2. Click "Create Tweet" button.
  3. Select Twitter account you want this tweet to be published to. Enter your tweet message, add image if necessary, specify when you want this tweet to be published (date, time, and time zone). And you can also select list(s) you want this tweet to be a part of.
  4. Click "Save" button

To add new tweet to a particular list:

  1. Navigate to Twitter Lists menu
  2. Click on "View List Tweets" button (a small button on the right side with an eye icon)
  3. Click "Add new Tweet" button and add your message, add image if necessary.
  4. Click "Save" button.

We recommend to have at least two and a half time more tweets in your list than number of time slots selected for each day. For example: if you have your scheduler configured to post Monday to Friday every half an hour between 8 AM and 8 PM that would be 24 posts a day. Then multiple 24 by 2.5 and you will get 60. This is a minimum number of tweets we would recommend to have in your list before you activate it. Why? Because Twitter treats tweets as duplicate if they have identical text and posted frequently. Nobody knows what is the exact frequency you can post the same tweet. Beside Twitter guys. But based on my testing if you have a couple of days and several tweets in between it should not be a problem.

Step #4 - Sit back and relax

Now when you have enough tweets scheduled it is time to activate the list. Grab a beer, sit back and relax. Have one for me as well!
